Goldrush sells its welcome offer as “up to R25,000 + 350 spins”, but the four matches in its own terms add up to R28,000 (R10,000 + R3,000 + R5,000 + R10,000). Collecting all of it would mean depositing R29,000 in your first week, because the second step only matches 75%. The spins follow the same pattern. You get 50 when you register and the other 300 arrive with the deposits, so you only see all 350 if you complete every step. The second deposit also adds a free drink and R250 of free play at a Goldrush venue outside the Western Cape and Free State.

Rules in the welcome terms

• The whole offer expires 7 days after registration, not 7 days per deposit, and the steps have to be done in order.
• Wagering is 30x the bonus on every step except the third, which is 25x.
• You can withdraw at most 5 times the bonus amount, capped at R50,000 per step.
• The first-deposit bonus only works on slots.
• Free spins are valid for 2 days after they land.

The sums on a R500 first deposit

Taking every match in full means betting about R815,000 inside a week (R300,000 + R90,000 + R125,000 + R300,000), which rules it out for most budgets. A R500 first deposit is easier to picture. You get R500 in bonus money and 100 spins, and you have to bet the bonus 30 times on slots, so that’s R15,000 in bets. Slots keep about R4 of every R100 you bet on average, so that costs you around R600, a little more than the bonus is worth. The most the bonus can ever pay out is R2,500.

Goldrush’s wagering sits in the middle of the casinos we’ve reviewed. YesPlay asks for 8x the bonus and Sportingbet for 20x, while Playabets and TicTacBets ask for 35x. We’d like to see a longer deadline too, because a week is tight even for the smaller deposits.

Typing goldrush.co.za opens Goldrush’s older site, where the slots live in a lobby called Gold Reels and a New Goldrush Site link sits in the top menu. The two sites don’t show the same numbers. When we took the screenshot below on 12 October, the Gold Reels tabs counted 4,169 games, 2,546 of them slots. The newer site showed 2,435 slots when we checked it on 2 October. Slots

The studios include Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Yggdrasil, EGT Digital and Amusnet, and the Gold Reels provider filter listed 34 studios on 12 October. The bonus-buy section gives you a lot of choice if you like skipping straight to the feature, but be careful with it while you’re playing through the welcome bonus. A buy typically costs around 100 times your stake, so it uses up bonus money fast.

When we opened Goldrush’s live lobby on 12 October, the All Games tab showed 642 games. Blackjack had 270 of them, baccarat 96 and live roulette 75, with 46 game shows and 35 first-person games on top. Evolution supplies many of the tables, and a banner in the lobby announced Playtech as a new provider.

Goldrush doesn’t publish a payments page, so there are no deposit limits or payout times to quote. Its FAQ only says withdrawal times depend on the method and that verified accounts are paid faster.

Goldrush’s general terms add a few rules of their own. Each deposit has to be wagered once before you withdraw it, the minimum withdrawal is R50, and EFT withdrawals only go to the account the deposit came from.

Goldrush’s contact page lists live chat, email and phone, all open 24 hours. The chat icon sits in the bottom left corner, and it was there on both of our 12 October screenshots while logged out. HelloPeter tells a different story about how quickly problems get solved. Goldrush takes almost 68 hours on average to reply to complaints there, and reviewers describe scripted answers and dropped chats.
