How sign-up spins work
You register, the spins appear in your account, and you play them on the slots the casino names. You can’t choose the stake, because the casino sets a fixed value for each spin. Whatever the spins win goes into a bonus balance, which usually has to be bet a set number of times before it becomes cash. None of it can be withdrawn until your FICA documents are approved, and every offer is limited to one per person, household or IP address.
The spins don’t last long. Hollywoodbets gives you a day once you’ve claimed them, and Goldrush, WSB and Lucky Fish give you two. On our Goldrush test account, the 50 spins and an SMS confirming them arrived about five minutes after we signed up on 18 October.
What 50 free spins are worth
Multiply the number of spins by the value of each one. Hollywoodbets’ 50 spins at 60c are R30 of play, WSB’s 100 spins at 50c are R50 and Lucky Fish’s 25 spins at 30c are R7.50. Goldrush doesn’t say what its spins are worth.
Slots pay back about R96 of every R100 on average, so Hollywoodbets’ R30 of spins would win around R29, though you can just as easily win nothing. Hollywoodbets then makes you bet those winnings 10 times, which is about R290 in bets, and you’d expect to lose around R12 of it along the way. The most you can ever take out is R600.
Lucky Fish works the same way with smaller numbers. R7.50 of spins would win about R7 on average, so the R240 cap only matters after a big hit. The R50 bonus that comes with the spins has to be bet once before you can withdraw it.
Free spins you keep as cash
Two deposit offers pay spin winnings as cash, with nothing to wager. Playabets gives 50 spins on Gates of Olympus when your first deposit is R100 or more, and the stake per spin grows with the deposit, to R1 a spin on R500. Sportingbet gives 50 spins at 50c with a first deposit of R200 or more, on 12 slots made for Sportingbet, and caps the winnings at R5,000.
Both come with a deposit match that has its own wagering, 35x your deposit and bonus at Playabets and 30x the bonus at Sportingbet. Each review works through what that match costs.
Bigger spin bundles need bigger deposits
The largest numbers come from multi-deposit welcome packs. Betfred gives up to 750 spins on Big Bass Bonanza over three deposits, but all 750 need R31,000 deposited, and a R20 first deposit brings 10. PantherBet gives up to 450 over three deposits from R30, with 35x wagering on spin winnings and a cash-out cap of R5 for each spin, so 250 spins can pay at most R1,250. Impressario gives 100 spins over five days after a R200 deposit, at 40x.
Betway has the smallest pack. Its 10 spins on 12 Masks of Fire Drums arrive after you’ve wagered R50, together with 10 Aviator flights and a R10 free bet, and the terms don’t say what a spin is worth.
What to check before you claim
- What each spin is worth. A hundred 10c spins are worth less than fifty 60c spins.
- Which slots they play on. Most offers lock you to two to five games.
- How long you have. Several offers expire within 24 to 48 hours.
- The wagering on winnings, and whether it has its own time limit.
- The most you can cash out from the spins.
- Whether you need FICA first. Hollywoodbets lets you claim without it but pays nothing out until your documents are approved.
How we checked these offers
We read each casino’s welcome terms on its own site from a South African connection. Hollywoodbets’ terms were read on 11 and 12 October 2026, and the welcome SMS on our Hollywoodbets test account on 29 October still offered R25 and 50 free spins. Every other offer was checked again on 29 October 2026. Where a casino doesn’t publish a figure, such as WSB’s wagering on its spins, the card says so. The full terms and our sums for each casino are in its review.
