Jackpot City’s welcome offer works differently from most. Instead of one package, you get a choice on each of your first four deposits, either free spins on Jackpot City’s own Hot Hot Jackpot City slot or a deposit match of up to R500. You can take spins one time and the match the next. The first deposit has to be R50 or more and made within seven days of registering, and your account has to be verified.

Which option to choose

The match is easier to judge, because Jackpot City’s terms don’t say what each free spin is worth. Both options carry 30x playthrough, on the spin winnings or on the match bonus, and the most you can take out of the whole welcome offer is R2,000.

To clear a match, you wager the bonus 30 times. Say you deposit R500 the first time and get R500 as a bonus. You’d need R15,000 in bets. Assuming the slots keep an average of R4 for every R100 wagered, you’d expect to lose around R600 along the way, slightly more than the bonus. The later matches are bigger percentages, so the 150% on your fourth deposit gives the full R500 from a deposit of about R334, but the R15,000 in bets stays the same.

Bonus rules to check before you deposit

• Only one bonus is active at a time. Any others wait in a queue until the first one’s playthrough is done.
• A single bet of 15% of the bonus or more counts as irregular play, so keep stakes under R75 on a R500 bonus.
• Gamble and double-up features don’t count towards the playthrough, and even-money bets on roulette, baccarat and sic bo are treated as irregular play.
• Withdrawing your deposit before a deposit bonus is paid forfeits all your active and pending bonuses.
